The story of this route
Atatürk's fondness for Yalova is well known, and so is the story of the Walking Mansion, which he had moved on rails so that a plane tree's branches would not be cut. Our first stop is the Atatürk Arboretum in Termal: before going in, we talk outdoors about the town's relationship with trees, then walk through the arboretum.
Next, at the Yalova Bonsai Museum, we look at how a tree is shaped at the smallest scale, and we end the day at the Karaca Arboretum, a collection built through the work of Hayrettin Karaca.
